Edited to add: I tried the “invite others” box– as long as you know the email address of the person, it works very well and does not rely on the default mail program of the computer– it is a good thing

Other helpful hints:
If after you use a shape or draw a line, the ability to do so again seems to disappear, hit the “lock” at the bottom of the toolbar. That helps keep things running better ( you can change tools without unlocking this).
Your boards will be available for 90 days and will then be deleted. However, you can save the image of the board by clicking the “save image” button at the bottom of the screen.
Flash 10.0 is required so if you are having difficulties you can try updating your flash player at http://adobe.com.

The information and communication technologies that we are using are critical, but only in so much as how useless my schooling would have been without pencil and paper.

We will also take the conversation to the teacher — what does practicing contemporary literacy look like as a professional practice. I will start my keynote by making the point that teachers should be and should be seen as being master learners — and being a master learner today means being a master of today’s networked, digital, and abundant information landscape, a network learner.”

He goes on to say that we should not be integrating technology, but we should be integrating literacy. Literacy is in this context is digital/information literacy. We have so much information coming at us, we need to be able to organize it, to manipulate it, to master it. This can range from using the newest coolest web 2.0 application to being comfortable rearranging and organizing the data in a spreadsheet. The goal of technology is that students are able to give a voice to their learning. I was inspired by his comments and plan to look at staff development needs with an eye to this goal.
This conference was hosted in Lubbock by TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) There is another one planned for October with Chris Lehman, another education technology speaker that promises to be inspiring as well. If you are interested in more information on this conference let me know and I will get the word out to you and your administrators when it becomes available.

This ended up being a bust as a live blogging session due to intermittent drops in the network service. Unfortunately there are sometimes still some flies in the ointment

The other super cool was a Nasa website
(http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/mmgallery/index.html) where kids can plan their own space mission. They get to select the location, build their explorer or orbiter vehicle and when they activate their vehicle tools, they get to see what it looks like on the screen. There is even a launch and liftoff! This is aimed at upper elementary, but the kid at heart will enjoy it as well.

More to share, but these looked like an exciting way to get started!
